Queensryche | Queensryche

Review: This is the most recent Queensryche cd since the addition of Todd La Torre as the new lead singer, replacing Geoff Tate. I was a big fan of Queensryche in the past and was curious what the new sound would be like, but also hesitant with the line up change. As any fan would be. Hesitate no more! Todd has what it takes to hang with this group. His pipes are flawless. He may sound a lot like Tate, but with a slight difference as to make it his own. The musicianship on this disc is strong and tight, just as you would expect from this group. There was only a few things missing from this disc that would keep it from standing alongside the previous discs. I missed the strong hooks and full chorus', that normally make up a Queensryche offering. The songs were good, just not great. The second thing on my mind was the production of the disc. It seemed too compressed. I wanted that full onslaught of drums and guitar, and I didn't get that in my face. Made it seem too trebley. I know, I just made that word up. Other than that, a strong offering and a great replacement singer!
