THIS MONTH I CHOSE TO INTERVIEW PETE LORAN..FORMALLY OF TRIXTER, NOT ONLY IS HIS NEW ALBUM GREAT..ITS VERY DIFFERENT…MATURED, .AND MEANINGFUL THAT’S THE BEST WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT. NOTHING LIKE TRIXTER,SO SIT BACK ENJOY..AND PLEASE GO OUT AND BUY THE ALBUM…YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED! 

 

J-Ok.. first off welcome to www.musicmayhem.com Pete..thanks for doing this.. ill try to make it as painless as I can... lol.. Ok..before we get to the present.we have to go back in time..to how you began...and the band everyone knows you so well from..Trixter..the more juice the better..

 

J-How long was the band actually together before you guys got signed?

P- We were together for about 5 years before we got signed.

 

J-And how old were you guys when you got signed?..it seemed like the magazines either said you were older or younger then you guys really were.

P-Some of us were still in high school, although the ages for others were played with a little bit...off by a year ..........

 

J-Did everyone really get along..or was there a lot of fighting? 

P-Like any other relationship there were those times where you couldn't stand to see each other and it got heated too!!!

 

J-Did you guys all go out and hang out together..?

P-Yeah, we always hung out together on the road but not really at home. We needed some time apart.

 

J-What did you guys do for fun while on the road during the big tours..?any funny stories?

P- We just did what most guys in our situations would do, enjoyed it t the max..........met alot of nice people.

 

J-What was your favorite tour you were on? And why?

P-Probably the Warrant tour, because we all hung out together, partied and so on....everyone got along very well all the way from band guys to crew guys.

 

J-What was the biggest crowd you have played for and where? 

P-It was in Wisconsin, I think there was about 40 thousand maniacs there, my hair stood straight up!!!

 

J-Whats the craziest thing a fan has done to meet you?

P-I don't know? 

We had alot of people follow us form one end of the country to the other, I'm sure there were some things I don't even know about.

 

J-Why did Gus leave the band?

P-Good question............I just started talking to him a month ago, after 5 years of not talking.......I'll ask him.. at the time I don't think we cared. 

 

J-I saw you guys during the Undercovers tour..and everyone was switching instruments and singing..is this something that you enjoyed doing or was it just kinda others in the band wanting to sing?

P-Probably both.....we started doing it at the end of the Warrant tour because we were bored doing the same stuff night afetr night.......but I think everyone wanted to be a lead singer..........

 

J-What actully happened in the break up?

P-Nirvana!!!!!..........funny but true........plus I didn't enjoy the music anymore we also fired our management......so it was time regardless of Nirvana.

 

J-Do you know where the other guys are.or talk to them?

P-Oh yeah I talk to them every once in a while.

 

J-I see P.j. and Steve have a band..have you seen or heard them?

P-Seen it and heard it................

 

J-Is there ever a chance for a reunion?

P-Don't know..maybe for a goof at a wedding or somethig......

 

J-And what do you think of all these 80's bands reuniting? Do you think its for the money..or love of the music?

P-I doubt there is much money involved, well maybe for some...I think they couldn't do anything else so they stuck with what they do....I'm sure they all tried to do different music and it didn't happen.........who knows.......

 

J-Ok..onto the present.

P-whew..........

 

J-What have you been doing since the band broke up? Any recordings or other bands?

P-No other bands..........just me writing my stuff for my personal taste.......I got a new CD out right that can be purchased at www.peteloran.com or if you have a Tower Records near by you can order it through them.. It’s totally different from Trixter.....It was what I always wanted to do anyway.

 

J-You just released your own solo cd called "Be of this Time". How long have you been working on this.and what kind of musical direction is it.for someone who hasn't heard it yet?

P-I expect great things..........I am getting a great response here in PHX already been on the two news shows already hit the biggest radio stations in town too...more to come… it's everything that feels good to me I have worked on it for three years on and off..........slow paced.......it sounds believable........acoustic, bluesy at times with felling and lots of guitar tone...........

 

J-Is there anyone we know playing on it w/you?

P-No just some buddies and myself.

 

J-Who wrote the songs? And where do you get your ideas for your songs?

P-Alll the songs were written by me and all ideas are my own experiences.

 

J-Do you play out a lot where your living now.?

P-Just starting to make it happen.................

 

J-Do you still do Trixter songs?

P-No way!!!..........out of my range...........HA HA

 

J-Any plans to tour for this cd?

P-I am keeping my options open for sure.......we got some offers already

 

J-How does it feel to be playing out now..w/your own stuff..?

P-It feels like I always thought it should....very intimate........

 

J-What has been the response so far to the cd?

P-It was just released and the response is amazing.......... As far as the future.. can't wait to see what in store for 2000.

 

J-What things do you see for you musically in the year 2000?

P-Spreading my music all over the world so people can enjoy it the way I do.
